Following the success of last year’s festival, Hexham Bluegrass Festival is back again with its exciting mix of local, regional, professional and amateur musicians and bands, workshops, dancing, sessions and events in the town. Located at the Bandstand on the Sele next to the Abbey, there are two stages and stalls, comfy deckchairs (but not enough for you all, so bring your own seats) and a range of food and drink and interesting shops and cafes only a stone’s throw away.
This Festival is the only Bluegrass Festival in the North East and perhaps surprisingly Hexham is something of Bluegrass hub.
In addition to fantastic music, in beautiful surroundings, this year the famous Hexham Farmers’ Market will be in the market place on Saturday 27 th from 9.00 until 2.00. This market sells food and goods that are produced by local farmers and is worth a visit.
Hexham Bluegrass is also running a series of events in the run up to the festival. These include busking in the town a Bluegrass related film at the local cinema, a talk on Old Time music and a gospel service.
The weekend will kick off as last year with a Hoe Down Ceilidh

The festival is 'free'
The first two festivals were free and we aim to continue that in 2024. So it's still free, but fundraising is underway in partnership with the North of Tyne Combined Authority. We still have a way to go so please donate if you can via the Spacehive button below to secure the future of this wonderful event in Hexham !
If you would prefer to donate another way please email HBF Treasurer
